Arthritis & Rheumatism

There are many types of arthritis and rheumatism including juvenile arthritis, each will require an individual programme tailored exactly to the condition. Osteo-arthritis is the most common form of arthritis and a degenerative joint disease due to 'wear and tear' on particular areas or joints because of repetitive strain or trauma. Rheumatoid arthritis is systemic and is an auto-immune disease.

Symptoms include: mild early morning stiffness and following periods of rest; pain that worsens on joint use; loss of joint function; local tenderness; soft tissue swelling; creaking and cracking of joints on movement; bone swelling and restricted mobility; varying degrees of pain and inflammation of the skeletal system and other signs of degenerative loss of joint cartilage.

Nutrition

  • Cut out dairy products, red meat, salt and sugar.
  • Avoid foods from the Solinaceae family e.g. potatoes, peppers, aubergines, as they interfere with muscle enzymes.
  • Avoid oxalic acid-rich foods which include; tea, coffee, wine, spinach, rhubarb, tomatoes, gooseberries, oranges, strawberries, black and red currants. Eventually, some of these can eventually be re-included without incurring pain and inflammation.
  • Consume ‘The Green Stuff’ vitamin & mineral food concentrate. Mix it with pineapple juice (rich in bromelain), as it will help reduce inflammation.
  • Take garlic and apple cider vinegar on a regular basis.

    Natural Healing

  • You will need to perform liver, kidney and bowel cleanses.
  • If overweight, then weight loss will relieve joint strain.
  • Gentle exercise is vitally important, but build up slowly; and never overdo it.
  • To promote healing take hot and cold showers to relieve stiffness.
  • Try Muscle & Joint massage oil applied to the area and then apply a bag of frozen peas to the area. (Hot & cold)
  • Use 1 cup of Epsom salts, 2 cups of apple cider vinegar and St. John's Wort flowers and lavender tied in a muslin bag in the bath.
  • Use hot castor oil packs on the area overnight (enquire for more details)
