Haemorrhoids
This painful condition can often be an early warning signal to assess the state of the digestive system in general. Rectal bleeding must be differentially diagnosed from malignant disease. Anal fissures can be a worsening of haemorrhoids where they have split and will not heal around the anus due to its sphincter movement and stretching on defecation.
Nutrition
Avoiding coffee, teas & alcohol, which will cause irritation, until haemorrhoid has calmed down. Replace with ‘Super Foods’ like ‘The Green Stuff’ Vitamin & Mineral food concentrate, nourishing soups and fibre.
Try omitting dairy products and wheat from the diet for 1 month to see if this helps.
Natural Healing
A suppository will help heal and support the area. Useful herbs would be barberry powder, walnut powder, a pinch of cayenne and witch hazel essential oil. Enquire about anal pessaries – made to order.
A slant board treatment will be useful, allowing the blood to circulate better in the anal area. (Ask for more information).
Take cold sitz baths which can help severely prolapsed piles. Also sitting on bags of frozen peas or commercial cold packs at intervals.
Herbs
Herbs to help discomfort and healing are walnut or butternut, oak bark, yarrow herb, marshmallow root, myrrh resin, a touch of cayenne (in case of bleeding) and rhubarb root.
A useful ointment, applied frequently, before and after bowel movements and in between if possible, can be made from comfrey leaf, pilewort and marigold flowers with benzoin essential oil and witch hazel. (Pile Ointment – please enquire) .
Neat or diluted witch hazel with a few drops of lavender essential oil added, can help for quick relief. Dampen a cotton wool ball with the mixture, apply directly to affected area and keep in place for a few hours at a time.

Metaphysical
On a mental/emotional level, haemorrhoids represent ‘a fear of deadlines; anger of the past; being afraid to ‘let go’; or feeling burdened.’ Affirmation: “ I release all that is unlike love. There is time and space for everything I want to do.”
