Irritable Bowel Syndrome
This common condition causes irregular muscular contractions of the bowel, usually worsened by stress, which traps food and leads to bloating and pain. The symptoms include bloating, trapped wind, and alternating constipation and diarrhoea. Trigger foods need to be isolated. - the most common being wheat, dairy, tea, coffee and sugar. It is worth attending to this syndrome before it degenerates into a more serious condition.
Nutrition
You will need to radically change your diet.
Avoid wheat, dairy products, coffee, tea, sugar
Try avoiding other possible food groups that may cause problems like tomatoes or orange juice. This condition can be made worse by a variety of your own individual 'trigger' foods, so you will need to eliminate and then reintroduce foods to discover which foods are causing the problem or have an allergy test, but bear in mind that you and your allergies will fluctuate.
Repopulate colon bacteria - take pro-biotics. The simplest form is ‘acidophillus’ from a health shop, chamomile tincture (from a herbal practitioner), live yoghurt, or home-made ‘Rejuvelac’ (enquire for details).
Natural Healing
Gentle massage with essential oils of chamomile and ylang ylang is helpful in the abdominal area. Always work clockwise from right to left in a circular motion, as this follows the same route as the colon.
Use a hot castor oil poultice (with chamomile and ylang ylang essential oil) - Place on the abdomen; reheat and replace till the pain has subsided roughly every 20 minutes.
Take plenty of exercise.
