Irregular or Dysfunctional Periods
Although irregular periods are obviously due to hormonal imbalance, both of progesterone and oestrogen, they can also stem from liver, bowel or blood disorders. Insufficient progesterone shortens the phase after ovulation while insufficient oestrogen can bring ovulation forward early. Frequent bleeds make life practically very difficult but can also lead to anaemia and fatigue. A dietary overhaul will be needed. See also ‘Tips for a Healthy Menstruating Body’.
